You might or might not know that this past Wednesday marked the 150th anniversary of the first time Lewis Carroll ever told the Alice in Wonderland stories to the real Alice and her sister. To celebrate, an international group of artists and I got together to re-illustrate Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, and give all profits from book sales to the British Library's conservation fund. I've never been a genius at drawing or painting, so I decided to cake a chapter!
As if you couldn't guess, my chapter was 'A Mad Tea Party'. (I also illustrated a chapter from Looking Glass with needlefelted dolls, but you don't bake them so you'll have to buy the book if you want to see them XD)
I thought it might be a bit boring to just do the cake though... so I also did some dormouse-themed cookies! To decorate the cookies I made lino cuts and printed onto the royal icing. So much fun! I also made a tutorial on how to create these, which is included in the full text version of the book. </subtle plug>
If you did want to check out the rest of the project, you can find the website with info on it here.
