drooool, that sounds sooo yummy. Are they kind of like petits fours, are they like cake balls dipped in chocolate, or something else?

Every single one of your cakes is awesome.
Also, don't be mad, but I laughed at your reaction to the cake breaking. Hard. (Mostly because my first foray into cake decorating ended with me running crying into another room.)

Amazing. There are no words, really!
Except "OMG-did-you-make-those-truffles?" Can I ask how you got the outside layer of chocolate to look so perfect?

I experimented a lot with how to dip them because previously they looked like "horse dung", as a cakecentral girl called it (her own, not mine!).
I froze them, put them on a bamboo skewer, dipped them, then stuck the skewer onto a piece of styrofoam. They ended up perfectly smooth this way with no puddle on the bottom.
HOWEVER... the first batch - perfect. The 2nd batch - some of the truffles slid down the skewer as I watched in horror. I have no idea why. It could be that those were the milk chocolate ones and it had a heavier texture than the pink ones. Or mabye it set up differently. I'll have to keep experimenting with the skewer method.

Your guitar is beautiful :) Also, I want to nom those truffles, and the lustre dust on the brown bow on the last cake makes it look *incredible*!

Oh my gosh, these are all AMAZING! I will have to warn my husband to be careful or he may get demoted as well. :)
I am itching to make a baseball cake, and yours is just lovely. I never thought of putting it on grass like that, but it's just perfect. Mind if I steal thatcreate an homage?

I love the guitar xD I tried to make one with shortening only last year, n it looks terrible, I'll try to make one like this xD
n the last one is so cute
I want them xD!
Hi, I have some new cakes! I've been so busy and have experienced physical exhaustion like never before!

Chocolate cake (very moist, I might add) with magenta-colored buttercream as a filling. The lettering is done with royal icing plaques (a technique I like quite a bit). Accents are gumpaste/fondant mixture.
I can't believe the amount of work involved on this cake. And I didn't even do all the detail I could have done. I was very scared about covering this cake in fondant as it was the largest cake I've done to date covered in fondant and there were lots of weird curves. The fondant part went swimmingly though. I just hated that I couldn't get the fondant, especially the brown (chocolate) fondant to not look super dried out and dusty with cornstarch. I even brushed it all with everclear. It looked good while it was still wet but once the everclear evaporated, it went back to looking dry and dusty.
Other stuff that went wrong:
1. I forgot to make the strings on the head (is that what it's called?) of the guitar. Didn't realize it until the very last second. Ah well! Hopefully no one noticed!
2. On our way out the door with the cake, my husband (self-proclaimed assistant cake decorater who has been demoted to "assisant TO the cake decorator") kind of broke the cake in half! He was carrying this very heavy cake from just the sides with no support under the middle! I kicked his shin and ran screaming and crying inside the house to fix it. Luckily it wasn't too bad. I made the mistake of not securing the body and neck together. You see, they were constructed seperately on their own cake board and then just placed together. I should have used a dowel to connect them AND use royal icing to cement them together AND squish a log of fondant into the crack.
3. Aforementioned crack (well, more of dip) looked dumb under the layer of fondant for the fretboard. Guh!
4. I would not use royal icing for the strings if I ever make this cake again. They kept cracking and falling off. Oh, and the strings were slightly off center.
I'm still fairly happy with how it turned out. The recipients loved it.
Here are the other cakes I made:
